Why we changed our name

And all the exciting new things we’ve launched

Say goodbye to Good Day Rentals and GOOD DAY to Good Day Club! After 4.75 years as Good Day Rentals, we’re changing our name to better reflect who we are and what we do now, and into the future. This video says it better than we ever could. 

Our history in 50 words or less

Kate wanted to hire vintage furniture for her and Dave’s 2013 wedding. She couldn’t find what she wanted, so she said to Dave, “Let’s buy it all and start a vintage hire biz!” So we did, and our wedding was rad (for proof, see below). The following year they launched Good Day Rentals, focusing on hiring rad old stuff to other legends.

We bought a truck (called God) and a warehouse in 2016 and now do so much more than hire.

A new name to reflect the now

Starting out doing vintage and retro furniture hire was an excellent start to our #smallbizlyf. But soon enough we wanted to innovate our vertical synergies, create a dynamic strategy to think outside the box, and value-add our touchpoints for high yield outcomes.

For those who are not former corporate flunkies like Dave and Kate, what we’re ACTUALLY saying above (because, truly that’s just gibberish #buzzword) is that we’ve added to our offering, we’ve grown up and changed and our business has matured since we launched in August 2014.

After a year, we added event design + styling. At 18 months, Kate joined the business full time. The two year mark was a biggie when we bought our warehouse and took it from a concrete shell to a two story office / warehouse / double workshop neon heaven. Around this time, Dave began building furniture and props for styling jobs and for our hire range. In early 2018 Dave dropped out of corporate life and in mid-2018,  we added graphic design for event stationery to our suite of services.

With plans in 2019 to add a bunch more services and some retail products, it no longer made sense to us or to our customers, to be called Good Day Rentals.

After thousands of sleepless nights, millions of tense conversations, tens of domain searches, what if-ing and other indecisiveness, we landed on Good Day Club. Club is so cute. Club is something you join. Club says fun and activities. Club is not too long for a domain (like consortium, obvs!). Club it was! And the decision was made, and life seemed so easy again. 

So What’s new then?

Besides our name, logo and branding? Well well well, we’ve added a bunch of new stuff. What stuff you say? Colourful headshot days for creatives and rad people, a range of ready made and personalisable graphic design, custom and ready made furniture builds by Very Good Products, workshops – some taught by us and others by rad legends who know how to do stuff, and Good Day merch! We’re doing limited editions of rad stuff, just for you.

The first release is Good Day earrings and t-shirts. One stop shop kinda sounds like convenience store marketing, but we are this more than ever – we can design, style and furnish your wedding in our unique rad blend of old and new, we can create your event stationery and signage, we can upskill you via our workshops and provide you with amazing photos and GIFs via our headshot days. And we can dress you and adorn your ears.

We really hope you like all the new things we have to offer – we’ve worked really hard on these new things and we’re excited to see them go out into the world!
